The Cow and The Fish in Hollywood

Really great hole in the wall. Man I ran into at ace hardware in Solomons told me about this place. For a small place we were shocked by the quality of food and the cook. 4 people we ate for $120. Steaks. Shrimps. The mussels were delicious. The blackened ribeye and the lamb was done to perfection. Service was fun and jovial. Veggies were local and fresh. Crab meat in the soup was local crab. We will be back!!

Very delicious food! The owner was super nice and helpful. It was really slow though, even when it wasn't particularly busy.

While I'm not in this area frequently for dinner or lunch, I've made it a point to stop in when I am and suggest you do the same. I've dined at the Cow and the Fish six or so times since they've opened and always have a great experience. From salad to steak and everything between, it's all been flavorful. Keep up the great work!

As a local I have to say this is one of my favorite places to eat. There are a few on the wait staff that could use a little time in charm school but the food is always fantastic.

Enjoyed a variety of items here, everything delicious from the appetizers to the salads, entrees and desserts. Service is always been exceptional. I've even ordered something that wasn't exactly on the menu and they were willing to accommodate. The cocktails are delicious and portion size Is generous. The only complaints would be that occasionally they're out of something on the menu, and once the tomatoes served in summer weren't true garden ripe red tomatoes, and they should be in August. The dining area can feel a little close, but they do the best with the space afforded them in the building. The lighting and ambiance is nothing special, but nothing to complain about either. Definitely worth visiting, highly recommend it!

Simply delightful! What an experience. The level of customer service is outstanding and the food is truly a delight. Best restaurant in Southern Maryland by far in the 18 years I've lived here. Thank you for such an amazing experience we will be returning.

Great little place to eat and enjoy a really good meal. I had the crab cakes. I think they are the crab cakes in Saint Mary's. My wife had the steak and it was cooked well too. The cheif makes a really good salad dressing ... I can't remember what's it called so ask the server about it. We have been here twice now and enjoyed our dinner both times. Parking is a hassle. Great food and great service. We can't wait to go back again.

Had an amazingly tasty spicy sausage and pasta lunch special today while coworkers enjoyed phenomenal crab dip, cheese steak, and crab cake sandwich. Awesome atmosphere and a stellar waitress who made the experience top notch. We will certainly be back and would recommend to anyone looking for fancy plating and epic food with a great price.

Seriously so good!! We stopped in a couple weekends ago for our first sit down restaurant meal since March. The espresso martini alone is worth the visit. The strawberry shortcake cocktail was the perfect dessert. The food is equally impressive. I was so pleased to have a crab cake that wasn’t smothered and overwhelmed with Old Bay for once. (Yes, obviously I’m not from SOMD) The steak was cooked perfectly and so flavorful and juicy. I can’t believe it’s taken us so long to try this place out but we will be back soon!

Outstanding meal and excellent service. Everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The lemon grass mussel appetiser were to die for. This is as good of a meal you can get in any major city!

Fine dining in southern Maryland. With an eclectic menu and good service, I don't have much of anything to complain about. While they were out of a few things on the menu that night, the staff was upfront and honest about it. The only thing I would change to the description is that it's probably more $$$ in terms of price. We will definitely be back!

Excellent food. The breaded chicken tenders are to die for! I ordered the Grilled lamb as my main course and it was delightful... Try the sangria, you won’t be disappointed.

Really wonderful dinner tonight at the Cow and the Fish. 1st time dining here and we were all very impressed with our meals and service. Glad we called for a reservation, everything was so delicious! Such a nice surprise of a restaurant! Delicious halibut and pasta...and especially the lemoncello cake dessert! So yummy & refreshing! Will definitely be going back!

Love this place! Food is always fresh, delicious and well prepared. From starters/appetizers, main entre and dessert, not once we've been disappointed. The steaks way better than any steakhouse in the area. The environment and the service is exceptional while welcoming and cozy. The owner welcomes and checks on customers and food regularly. Perfect spot for romantic dinner, friends or family lunch/dinner.

Tremendous place here in SOMD! Chef Michael has established a well crafted restaurant that offers a distinct, yet varying selection, that based on this initial visit - is on the top of our short list. The Sandie 8 oz and Shrimp basket left us well satisfied and pleased with our choices!

The Cow and the Fish is the best in fine dining. The food is exquisite. The portion size is perfect. The service is personal. If you are looking for a perfect evening out this is your place.

Delicious upscale casual dining. Food is thoughtfully prepared and wine pairing is spot on. Try the lamb chops. Get the dessert and espresso. You really can't go wrong.

Great drinks. Food was good. NY strip was a little tougher than I prefer but was prepared properly.

Great place for some great food. Had our anniversary dinner there, and really enjoyed it. My wife is gluten free, and we had an awesome flourless torte. Our server, Mercedes, was awesome. She came by to check on us the right amount of times (not too much to be annoying, but not too little where we thought we were forgotten ). She was very friendly and funny. Wish we had more places around where the servers are that personable. Will absolutely be going back.

News flash people! This is the best restaurant in California, MD and probably the entire county. I only wish they would move to Kensington where I feel they would be more appreciated 😉 Food is ridiculously good, constant specials which are amazing. The drinks are amazing as well. Service is a tad bit slow, but the food makes up for it!!!!

I've been to every restaurant in the Solomon's area. Cow and fish blows em all out of the water (even lighthouse and hideaways). Food was excellent. Restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, but is very nice inside. Can't wait to go back.

Love eating here. The food is amazing, well worth the wait if they are busy, and well worth the price if you consider their prices to be on the high side. I do not. My favorite sandwich is the crab cake sandwich and I love trying their different dinner specials every visit. The lemon cake they serve is delicious. The plating of the food is beautifully done as well.

Definitely a gem in Southern Maryland. Mercedes our server was super friendly and seriously the best customer service I have ever had. Lived in the area @2 years and decided to try the place since it was close to home. Sangria recipe is fabulous. Everything on the menu has flavor explosion! Had the crab balls, lamb, scallops and homemade curry chicken soup. Far exceeded expectations and found a favorite spot. Amazing!

Delightful. Wait staff was very professional. We were attended to but they were very kind to let us talk and never bothered us to leave. Food was fabulous. We both had the salmon and it was perfection. Dessert was on par with a fine dining restaurant. I'm so happy to have discovered this little hidden gem. I'll be back for sure!

We came for dinner and was NOT disappointed! 😊 We started with a glass of Godello suggested by the knowledgeable bartender and ordered some crab balls to go with... delicious! I ordered the scallop special and they were cooked to perfection and paired with a beautiful sauce. For dessert I finished with an espresso martini & chocolate cake. If you haven't been here yet, you don't know what you're missing.

We arrived at this spot for a meeting. my friend recommended this spot. Well, it was very successful. the staff members were so friendly and we had a fantastic feeling. The food was just great. We enjoyed every moment and we will visit this place again. Warmly recommended.

Parts of our meal were good and other parts were not. The mussels were for the most part very good but a couple did not taste quit right. The garlic bread served with the mussels was very good. Salads are on the hurting side. Lettuce with three 1/2slices of cucumber and one 1/2 slice of tomatoes does not a salad make. The dressing was also not made in house.Portions are very small for what you pay for. Over salted and seasoned as well. Drank a ton of water. Not good!Dessert was very good although small. Service was very friendly, clean restaurant but furnishings were not what one would expect for the high price on food charges. Had a full staff for a place that is only 1/2 full. Probably will not return.

I would have posted a pictures of food but I couldn’t manage to stop eating with my fiancé. Out of every restaurant in St Mary’s county, never have I had a meal like at Cow & Fish. We have gotten to know the staff and the owners all of whom are extremely kind. Yes, the food is more expensive but not without reason. They get the freshest quality ingredients everyday and the food is always cooked to perfection. Their drinks are always made heavy handedly and they never skimp a customer. If you need a change of pace in St. Mary’s, this is the place to get it. I recommend anything on their specials board and the Sandi is a classic for this restaurant. Take it from me, you will always leave a happy customer.

We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. The staff was pleasant and attentive without being intrusive. I had "The Sandie" an 8 ounce Black Angus beef steak served with a skewer of scallops & shrimp. My wife had a Cobb salad with chicken and the portion was huge. Everything was cooked properly, well presented and very tasty. Dinner, desert, and our drinks were well priced. My only complaint is the acoustics are lousy. It was quite loud and difficult for us to have a quiet conversation. Overall, we enjoyed our meal here and will try them again.
